SAICA-accredited CA Articles Programme

About the programme

The VAT IT CA Programme is a SAICA-accredited CA Articles Programme focused on building CA(SA)’s of the future.

Our Programme was born from the idea that being a CA is much more than just understanding numbers. It is about leadership, innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship – all the pillars that our business stands for. We created the Programme because we felt we had the perfect environment to nurture and foster the growth of CA’s of the future.

During the 3-year CA Programme, trainees undergo several rotations across our different businesses and departments to gain exposure to different skills and responsibilities. By doing so, the trainees can explore what they are good at, what they enjoy, and how they’d like to shape their future accordingly.

We mentor and support our trainees along their journeys to qualifying as CA(SA)’s, providing training to help them through their qualifying board exams (ITC and APC), and working alongside them to achieve the SAICA training requirements. But over and above the technical stuff, our trainees spend their articles having fun and shaping their careers – often staying on with us after their articles within leadership positions.

We’re looking for creative, driven individuals who are ready to innovate, collaborate, and lead. VAT IT is made up of a community of challenge seekers, innovators, and entrepreneurs. Are you up for the challenge?

What’s the difference between audit articles (TIPP) and training in commerce and industry (TOPP)?

The journey to becoming a CA requires doing your articles in either a TIPP or a TOPP Programme. TIPP stands for Training Inside Public Practice and refers to articles in an audit environment. TOPP refers to training Outside Public Practice and refers to articles in Commerce and Industry. VAT IT is a Level 1 accredited SAICA training office offering CA articles in Commerce and Industry. No one is better than the other, and both will lead to you qualifying as a CA(SA). The decision purely depends on personal preference, as well as your own career goals. We would be happy to talk through this with you in further detail. Drop us an enquiry here and we’ll get back to you.

FAQ Slide 3

Is this a Tax
Programme?

No! Although some of the businesses in the Group are related to various taxes, such as VAT and withholding tax, we believe that computers can and should be programmed to do the technical tax calculations and transactions. Trainees will be tasked with solving more stimulating, real business problems, which most of the time are not even related to tax. The Programme’s elective competency is in fact Management Decision-Making.
